Abstract:

The article explores the events related to the heroism of the population of the Chuvash region in the Patriotic War of 1812. The sons of the Chuvash people gained fame as brave soldiers, fighting and took an active part in foreign campaigns in Europe, destroying the Napoleonic army. The initiator of the construction of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, dedicated to the soldiers of multinational Russia, was the general, philanthropist, war hero P.A. Kikin, the native of the Chuvash Republic.
