Abstract:

The article is devoted to the final stage of World War II and the events of Soviet-Japanese war of 1945. It shows the tragic results of the global conflict that occurred in the middle of the 20th century. The main attention is paid to the factors which forced the USSR, being under the pressure of allied obligations, to oppose Japan. The article analyzes the ratio of forces on the Soviet-Japanese front and gives the assessment of readiness of the Japanese troops to conduct military operations. Special attention is paid to the assessment of the Red Army victory given by Stalin. It is points out that after the Victory, some Japanese military groups and some certain military personnel continued to fight.
